Stunning extension proves a winner with buyers

Leading Toop&Toop Sales Partner Tim Thredgold expected a beautiful property at 49 Ormond Grove, Toorak Gardens to prove popular when it hit the market in late April.

But even Thredgold admits he has been pleasantly surprised by the interest shown in the 1920s character home.

“I’ve been exceptionally pleased with the level of inquiry,” Thredgold said.

“We’ve had really strong numbers since the home was launched.

“We did a number of private viewings on the first weekend and the inquiries have kept on coming.

“Our Facebook marketing campaign for the home has also generated extremely strong traffic.

“I guess in hindsight it shouldn’t have been such a surprise because the property certainly ticks a lot of boxes.”

The four-bedroom bungalow, built in 1926, is surrounded by a number of high-calibre homes on one of the most sought-after streets in the prized inner-eastern suburb of Toorak Gardens.

From street level, the home presents as a stylish character property with period features that befits its premium location.

But walk through the front entry and you’re soon greeted with a stunning, modern transformation.

The light-filled living and dining space features floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows and sliding doors to create seamless flow to the outdoor area.

Such was the quality of the extension that it was formally recognised at the 2018 South Australian Master Builders Awards, claiming the ‘Excellence in a Renovation’ crown for highly respected builder Scott Salisbury Homes.

“The current owners extended at the rear of the property, with a north-facing backyard. They’ve taken full advantage of the ability to capture that aspect,” Thredgold said.

“There’s certainly a fair bit of wow factor with the extension.

“It would be a great place to entertain because there’s such a natural flow between the indoor and outdoor zones.

“It’s pretty easy to imagine yourself reading a book on the lounge out the back and soaking up the sun.”

Thredgold said the popularity of this home further underlined the demand for quality properties in Adelaide, despite the recent restrictions placed on the real estate industry because of the coronavirus.

“From my point of view, I’m finding there are a number of serious buyers out there still … and it feels like confidence is growing again,” he said.
